FUNCTION OF BITE RING FITTINGS
SEALEXCEL has designed the Bite Ring very carefully with proper consideration having twin Biting edges to have firm and safe gripping on tubing to provide leak free connection of tube and components in fluid systems.
The important function of the Bite Ring is to have controlled progressive bite of the ring into the tube due to a unique internal geometry of the Bite Ring.
As the Bite-Lok® Tube Fittings Nut tightened, the Bite Ring moves towards the surface of the tube and the front Biting edge 'A' of the Bite Ring starts Biting tube, at the point where second Biting edge 'B' of the Bite Ring comes in contact with the surface of the tube a sharp increase in torque will occur, as soon as the both Biting edges have Bite the tube to the designed depth, the third stop edge 'C' of the Bite Ring comes in contact with the surface of the tube, a considerable increase in tightening torque which is already perceptible, at the same time, the Bite Ring is gripped firmly on tube providing perfect sealing.
Due to the design of twin biting and stop edges of the Bite Ring, the arising force are properly distributed. This distribution with inner edge 'D' of the Bite Ring increase the safety with regard to flexure stresses. Thus the vibration is eliminated form the biting area.
