How to Bleed a Radiator with the Help of Hot Water Bleed Valves?

There are many applications for hot water bleeder valves in various industries. They are used for safely bleeding the pressure built inside the system. Most commonly, these valves are used for bleeding the radiators used in the central heating boilers for removing unwanted air from the system. However, you need to assess the right time for bleeding a system. If the top section of a radiator appears to be cool when compared to its bottom even while the power is switched on, it implies that the system needs bleeding to remove the excess build-up of air.

As mentioned above, you can use hot water radiator bleed valve for a variety of other functions as well. These include bleeding of a system in the manufacturing plants for complete safety. Before maintenance, they help in safe instrument removal and proper calibration of the control devices. However, you should follow a proper procedure for bleeding the systems with the help of these valves. Here, it is:

Pneumatic Industries

Switch on the heat:

For safe bleeding, it is important that the system is hot and operating at a normal pressure. Therefore, you should turn on the power and let the boiler work for some time. This will assure that the system pressure will bleed the air inside the radiator forcing the hot water to enter it. Use high-quality valves made from sturdy stainless-steel material for ensuring accuracy in this process. The valves should be properly tested and verified for their safety and precision.

Turn Off the Heat:

In this process, it is essential to stop the flow of water or air around the radiator system. It is better to turn off the heat and let the system cool for at least 10 minutes. When the system gets cooled, find a radiator near the boiler. It has a hot water radiator bleed valve on its top. You should turn it off and prevent the water from getting trapped into the valve by keeping a large tray under it.

Turning the Radiator Key:

With the help of a radiator key, you should turn the bleed screw which is present on the top of the valve. Use the key to turn it slowly and listen to a hissing sound made due to the release of air pressure. When this sound stops coming, it means the radiator is completely bled. Now, turn the valve on using the same key.

Turn on the Heat:

You can bleed all the radiators with the help of this technique. Later, turn the heating system on to maintain an optimal pressure of the boiler.

For proper working of your industrial systems, you should prefer investing in a reliable quality of valves manufactured by an experienced company. Also, choose the valves that can work at maximum operating parameters.
